Conscious rap can be helpful to people who are caught at a crossroads. News for the majority of hip-hop connoisseurs, holy hip-hop emerged together with rap in the late 1980's. On Nas' brand-new record, "Hip-Hop is Dead", among my preferred tunes is "Continue Tradition" where Nas challenges, "Let's see who can estimate a Daddy Kane line the fastest." It has parallels with political hip hop and likewise encompasses the topics like religious beliefs, African American culture, everyday life and the state of Hip Hop itself.
